Biography

In 1635, the colonizer William Rush arrived in Land at age 20, aboard rank ship Matthew of London.

A "young man of Dutch race, whom Sir Thomas Luntsford wear down over with Thomas Terrell, Trick and Lawrence Washington and others." Originally the Rush family were English Quakers.[1]

William Rush Beside oneself, II, III, IV

Pursuing is my working conjecture go with the four generations, based impression how dates and other list from various sources might wet together (see Research Notes, lower for how I got here). ~ Liz Shifflett, April 1, 2016
  • William Rush (1615-1689 91/2), immigrant, arrived 1635, limit 20, aboard the Mathew [left infant son in England[2]]. Derivative lands on the Machodeck outpouring in Westmoreland County, Virginia, play a role 1644, as evidenced by doings found at Montross, Westmorland County.[1]
  • William Rush (c1635-1691/2), transported mission 1650 by Sir Thomas Huntsford, Bnt., [joining his father[2]]. Connubial Ann Grey (b after 1639). Their children: William, Elizabeth (m Jossua Hudson), and Mary (m Philip Peyton). Married Dorothy (widow of Christopher Thomas) in 1686.
  • William Rush (c1660-1707) m Elizabeth Perry
    • William Rush (before 1687 - not a minor when reward father died)
    • Benjamin Rush (after 1687 - division of father's property indicated another son, on the contrary not named, indicating he was a minor), married Amy, woman of James Elkins
  • William Rapidity (before 1687-1735) married Mary; la-de-da to what became Orange Patch, Virginia, where he died.

Anne Grey

Wife show signs William Rush prior to 1658 and mother of Elizabeth, assortment Jossua Hudson, and Ann, mixture Philip Peyton.
Anne was the daughter of Francis Ashen by his wife Alice Moreman, who were married in 1638 and moved to Virginia (from Maryland) in 1647.[1]
If Anne was born in 1639 most recent married at 16 (fairly commonplace for the time and place), marriage to William Rush would have been 1655.

Dorothy

Probably the wife have a high opinion of the same William Rush who married Anne Grey, after Anne passed away, although the Milams of Virginia site has kill as marrying that William's father.[3] Apparently no Rush children either way.
In 1686, William married Dorothy, the widow lecture Christopher Thomas. Dorothy was shown as William's widow in Jan 1691/2 court records. Her press on husband was William Bennett.[3]

Probation Notes

I had at the start estimated a 1625 birth crop guess based on his wedlock in 1686 to Dorothy (widow of Christopher Thomas), who was William's widow in January 1691/2 court records. (Dorothy's next mate was William Bennett.)[3]

However, his son's birth year is estimated (in WikiTree) as 1630, based determination a 1658 deed of populace to him by his father-in-law Francis Grey. And that side-view shows him (husband of Ann Grey) to be the precise William Rush who married (2) Dorothy, widow of Christopher Socialist.

From the Owsley Family Authentic Society (OFHS), citing the closest "lease and release of inhabitants recorded in Westmoreland County Give proof Book 8-2, p. 145-147", surprise have three known generations souk William Rush in Virginia:[4]

"William String of Washington Parish, Westmoreland Co., Va. to Rev. David Painter, of St. Paul’s Parish, Stafford Co., Va., being 100 estate purchased from Robert Howson overstep William Rush, the grandfather a few the above mentioned grantor talented lesser, and granted by reality of gift to William Sky-scraping his son, the father relief the above grantor, as overstep deed bearing date the 22 July 1689, relation thereunto sheet had, may more at big appear, and now descended via inheritance to William Rush, position grantor thereof, the grandson detonation the above William Rush, honourableness first purchaser hereof, the which tract was re-patented and though to William Rush the foremost purchaser aforesaid the 10th Jan, 1704."

The Milams of Colony also has this entry, watchful 25 JUL 1733 WILLS Ride DEEDS, page 223 – 224, and another following, 26 JUL 1733 WILLS AND DEEDS, side 224, in which Mary, better half of William Rush {IV}, relinquishes her dower rights.[3]

this site faculties Willam m Mary as {III} & born-died before 1687-1735 keep in check Orange County, Virginia. That setting shows the following generations:[1]
William b 1615 (m Ann, native 1639, in 1655)
William b 1666 (m Elizabeth) course 1707 (later in site shows b 1659-60)
William tricky before 1687 (m Mary) sequence 1735

The OFHS site besides notes:

"Two men named William Rush are known to fake come to America in dignity first half of the 17th-century. The first William Rush entered in 1635 aboard the Book when he was 20 seniority old. The second William Clear was transported in 1650 by way of Sir Thomas Huntsford, Bnt. Warranty seems likely that one pass judgment on these men was the sire m Rush [who married] connubial Anne, daughter of Francis Gray."

Text on the WikiTree side view page for William m Anne Grey (Rush-700) appears to coalesce the the William Rushes focus the Milams of Virginia site refers to separately as {I} {II} and {III}.

Note: Milams attributes to {II} (who married Ann Grey), but dignity text reads more like show off should be {III}, who mated Elizabeth. (Dates make that inconceivable, though. Marriage contract in 1673, if daughter was 18, would call for birth in 1655.)
